Beginnings. The start of a fresh new year. The creation of a dream. The launch of a great adventure. The commencement of a new passion. The opening of your mind and heart to something new and exciting. Beginnings are a little fickle friend. For something new and exciting to start something has to end or at least take the backseat for a bit.  Beginning is the one word that can take you anywhere your mind can imagine. I love new beginnings. I'm beginning the first full year at our new studio.{Chill bumps!}

This week we saw some great interpretations of one great word. Check out where these great photographers took this week's theme. Our top ten is in no particular order. Sneak Peek - Week 4's theme is "A Favorite Toy"

What's new with Daphne Ellenburg?

I hung out and became one with my pneumonia for most of the week. Moping. Wearing a sad face. Thinking about all the time I wasted doing mundane things that didn't matter {Like scrubbing my face} and all the places I've never seen {like Paris} while this pneumonia tried to do me in. Dramatic? Perhaps. But I had a little free time for my mind to wander.

Madison even made me a get well soup with the help of my Mom.

Untitled

I spent 3 hours at the Doctor Wednesday to make sure every trace of my pneumonia had disappeared. All that worry, I was too exhausted to celebrate. Anywho, Hooray! So I'm on the mend and feeling a solid 89% better. Looks like Mom's soup worked again.

Stopped by my studio to upload some work and found my NEW expensive sign sitting in the parking lot. Whoa!

Untitled

I was so excited to see it, but then had to watch it leave as they have to bust up some concrete to put it where it has to be. Sad face. Easy come, easy go. It might be up next week. I won't be holding my breath.

Bought some Valentine backdrops against my better judgement. I'll test them out this weekend. Hoping to fall in LOVE with them.

Untitled

Lost a button on my favorite coat. Thankfully I only have 2 cold days a year here and they were Monday and Tuesday.

Untitled

My newest magazine came in. It's 60 pages of awesome. Our studio does a girls birthday party called "Fashion Runway Adventure" - it's a party for six that has hair, make up, nails, photo-shoot, fashion show and super awesome magazine filled with your adventure. It's one of my favorite things. My books get bigger and better each month. I love them!

Untitled

Wishing you a wonderful filled with Family, Fun and Photography! Make it a GREAT week!

I'm knee deep into the last leg of my super long vacation. Am I relaxed? Nope. Am I exhausted and in need of a private vacation? Bingo!

Here we are exhausted in Keywest.

This is one of the BEST things I saw on vacation. This is in the art museum in Key West. It's Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea sketched by artist Guy Harvey. It was very awesome!

Untitled

At the aquariums in Atlantis.

Untitled

We arrived back in the US and made it thru customs with some extra animals.

Untitled

Now we are currently exhausted at Universal Studios for a few more days. I loved the Macy's day parade.

More ET fun.

The Butter Beer at Harry Potter was a hit.

But, some of didn't know when to stop.

It was a fun drink that was tasted like frozen butterscotch.

I let the hulk ride restyle my hair and I've rode more roller coasters on a Friday the 13th than a girl should, but my babes are having a good time and my Mom is keeping up on a scooter that hasn't clipped my legs yet. So far so good.

Wishing you a wonderful week filled with family fun and photography!

Halloween is that special time of year when the universe aligns and screams, "Daphne, you are a terrible pumpkin carver." Sad but true.  I see all these great pumpkins and I'm so jealous. And then to top it off, everyone under the sun is posting their pumpkin carved to perfection on Facebook. And then there is endless carved pumpkin tagging. And what's on my door step? A pair of shoes and a very attractive permanently carved foam pumpkin. So next year, when you see my amazingly carved pumpkin tagged on Facebook, only you will know it's completely made of foam.

I loved your Halloween adventures this week! Great costumes. Great ideas and most importantly, great fun! I'll share a couple with you...

These are the fun one year old twins I had in Saturday. This was my most favorite Halloween portrait ever.

Week 45's Theme is : Motion

This is a tricky week for you and your camera. Become one with the Bulb feature and knock one out of the park this week!

I chose to find my motion at the Mobile Fair. I went twice and I sure had a great time. Here's my favorite Motion shot.

What's New with Daphne Ellenburg?

The birthday twins were a hit. They didn't say much, but if they did it would have been the cutest thing I'd ever heard. I'm sure of it. We finished our shoot by destroying a beautiful cake.

Untitled

Monday, I finally got to hear what the Fox says when baby Fox came in for his close up. Surprisingly it was Ring a Ding, but it wasn't a shout it was more a whisper. Meet baby Fox. Dressed as a Fox. Parents are GREAT.

Newborn Boy, Fox hat, Ellenburg Photography, Saraland Alabama, 131028 Susie Fitzharris -61 edit

Report cards were so good around our house that we went to the fair twice. Grant and Madison rocked out straight A's and Jackson was pretty darn close with super tough 9th grade classes in the 8th grade. 4 A's and 3 high B's. No Complaints here, well a few. Why doesn't he have an A in French? We're mostly French around here.

Mike bought me an Arm band for unlimited fair rides. I rode 3 rides. But I could have rode one thousand.

Untitled

I love everything about the fair. The colorful rides, the weird food combos, and the fashion that you can only see once a year at the county fair.

Untitled

Jackson is really great at fair games. He managed to win this guy that Madison calls "Stephen" with only $3 but he also wasted $25 trying to win a motorcycle that I would have never let him ride anyway.

Untitled

Here's Me and Mike at the fair.

Untitled

And Me and Jackson. Sometimes when you say, "Come take a photo with your Mother" This is what you get.

Untitled

This is Madison and Stephen.

Untitled

Halloween was GREAT. We had Madison as Merida from Brave. No wig required.

Untitled

I was the witch turning mothers into bears since Michael wouldn't fund my $700 Amazon.com bear costume.

Untitled

Michael and Jefferson were super.

Untitled

Grant was Master Chief.

Untitled

And Jackson was Captain Kenway.

Untitled

This week, I fell in love with Bitstrip. If you haven't tried it yet, do it.

Untitled

Wishing you a great week! Filled with Family, Fun and Photography!

I'm not a real borrower. I blame my Mom for that. If I said the word "Borrow" even at a whisper, she would come out of no where like a phantom and say "Daphne, Don't borrow something you can't pay for!" or "Daphne! Don't borrow things from your Friends!" What stranger is going to let me borrow anything? My Mom is quite a worrier. She is also famous around here for saying, "Don't borrow Trouble!" I don't even know what that means because it is was seriously over used while I was growing up. It could mean anything as far as I'm concerned. I think the thing I'm guilty the most of borrowing is Time. If it were not for the last minute, I'd be out of minutes. I love the last minute. I can really get stuff done in the home stretch!

I loved seeing your borrowed shots! We've got everything here from children to a cup of sugar. I love it. You guys rocked out another fun week! And I know you don't want to hear it, but keep it in the back of your mind...we still haven't done self portrait week. It's coming, there are only so many weeks I can keep moving it back. Week 44's theme is "Halloween FUN"

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, because it's the one day I can be someone else. I can't wait to see your Halloween Fun.

Remember when your baby was sleeping and then was  startled ~ they stick out they hands and legs and get super stiff. Their fingers do this super funny thing that this week I've been calling "Halloween Hands" - Yep, I'm photographing another baby.  Seriously, it's 4 babies in 4 days around here.

Meet Baby Nicholas. These are his Halloween Hands.

44/52 Halloween Hands

What's new with Daphne Ellenburg?

For starters, my harvest fest was a big wet disaster. Most of my stuff was ruined by the rain because water is kryptonite to your photographs. But fortunatly, my super worrying Mother warned me of the 40% chance of rain which gave me time to reprint the canvas that I was bringing which really saved me $200. Thanks Mom. Best part of the show was watching my baby girl dance in the rain. Yes she did. And she had great time doing it. Here she is goofing off with her girlfriends.

Untitled

Sunday we rocked out the Lawn Party benefiting The little sisters of the Poor. We had a great time and Madison tried to eat her weight in Cotton Candy.

Untitled

Jefferson's baby book came in from Italy. Yep. Italy. These guys make all my super awesome wedding albums. Seriously it's gorgeous.

Untitled

And for no reason, here's a photo of me Thursday under a hair dryer. I haven't been under one of these since 1989 - Prom flashback.

Untitled

Remember my worrying Mom? Here she is worrying about the Fox video on youtube.

Untitled

I made this at 5am on Friday.

Untitled

And then I put it on this baby. I love making new props.

Untitled

I finished Friday the way all Friday's should be finished.

With a claw machine victory. (we think it's a cat)

Untitled

And a Margarita.

Wishing you a fantastic week filled with Halloween FUN! Make it a great one!

Now I'm off to photography twin one year olds...

There is nothing better than reminiscing about the good old days. A great way to do this while driving is to give your child your smart phone. I did this Friday Night and Madison watched every video on my phone and drained my battery to a sweet 30%. Together, We blew out every birthday candle again. Took a trip to the beach. Watched Jefferson Eat sand. Went to the dance recital. Re-Adopted Princess Fiona from the sad sad dog pound. Relived the first day of school for Grant and Madison. And I got to hear, " That was a good day. Wish I could get that one back!" Come out of my five year old's mouth. She sounded like a little old lady. I couldn't help but giggle. I enjoyed my trip down smart phone memory lane. Our technology is so fantastic, we can blast in to the past when ever we want. We can rememeber. We can watch the memory. We can even recreate the film and photo processing that is nearly impossible to do anymore or is too expensive to experiment on with one click of our fantastic technology. I hope you enjoyed blasting into the past as much as I did this week!

Our top ten is packed with a wonderful variety. When you love the artist, check out their work. The links are directly below the photograph. Ready. Set. Here we go...

Week 43's theme is: Borrowed

I borrowed this baby on Friday. Meet one month Gracie. She'll be with me every month her first year. I've been borrowing a baby every week it seems. Confession: I really think I'm dragging these sessions out with extra holding and rocking. I can't seem to stop myself. It's the best part of the week, rocking those sweet babies.

What's New with Daphne Ellenburg?

It was a tough week. First, My laptop cord died. {sad face} Mike kept it alive for the rest of the day with a kitchen knife and plumbers tape. Some real MacGyver stuff.

Untitled

Then, Fall allergies tried to destroy me. Sigh.

Untitled

After a trip to the Doc, things started to turn around. Mike bought me a much needed present.

Untitled

I started to feel better and then Halloween planning took over. Madison will be Merida from Brave.

Untitled

And I will be Merida's Mom.

Untitled

Ok, my costume probably won't be THIS cool. Since this bear is $700 on Amazon.com and Michael just won't budge on letting me a be the most awesome $700 bear in Creola Alabama.  So, I'll probably be wearing one of my $5.99 dumpy plastic animal masks. Unless any of you has a menacing bear costume for me to borrow ;-)

Jefferson will be a Spartan.

Untitled

or a Bat.

Untitled

Or a equally menacing tiny bear. He just likes to try stuff on. I love Halloween. The older boys want to be someone who kills zombies. Go figure.

I wanted us all to wear these. But I lost (again).

Untitled

With over a week before Halloween, we may all change our minds again ~ who knows who we will be. A band of Indians? A bunch of Ellenburgs in plastic bear masks? Angry birds? Abraham Lincoln Vampire hunters? Oh, the mystery continues.

Wishing you a wonderful week of Borrowed fun with your family and photography. Make it a GREAT week!
