Getting to spend some one on one time with the BIG GUY in RED right here in South Alabama is a BIG deal to the boys and girls who come in for the Santa Experience. They take this seriously - especially the kids who come every year. They bring a detailed list. Some children draw pictures on the list for Santa too and a couple of kids bring pictures and catalogs so there is absolutely NO question as to what they want Santa to bring them for Christmas. I love when kids get to take out that list and put it in Santa's hand. There is something magical about watching Santa ask them questions about what they want and why they want it. I love that Santa always asks questions. He really assures them that he understands exactly what they are looking for.
10. Legos - batman seems to be in high demand.
9. Dolls - dolls that sleep, dolls that wet, and American Girl Dolls are HOT
8. Nintendo Switch - switch anything would be a win
7. Bike - Shiny Blues and Reds
6. Tablets - they want tiny electronics at all ages
5. Fire Truck - this classic always makes the list
4. Art kits - lots of painting and drawing
3. Slime kits - glitter slime is what they want - but what they really want is for you to make it with them. (keeping it real)
2. Dinosaurs - toys, stuffed, Jurassic Park - all of it is a win
1. Hatchimals - Big or Small they want them all. Last year I made fun of hatchimals, this year I'm buying one. Go Figure.
Remember, no mater what you give or what Santa Brings - never forget the magic of the season. It's so nice to have so many little people so full of the Christmas spirit. They really believe that anything is possible this time of year. Enjoy it. That kind of magic is contagious. Let that magic inside your heart too and try to keep it there the whole year.
It's not too late to create magical holiday portraits for your family. We are decked out from head to toe with Christmas thru the new year. Reach out to Ellenburg Photography for a magical experience.
As I'm putting the finishing touches on the start of a magical portrait season, I was over whelmed by a full heart and my joy for the season. Decorating for Christmas is my favorite. I take a lot of heat around my house because I really do have my tree up before Halloween. There is something magical about seeing that twinkling tree every day. It fills me joy and love and reminds me of so many wonderful memories when I walk by it. My tree is filled with ornaments hand picked out by the children and artsy things coated in glitter and popsicle sticks with polaroid snap shots. There is a keepsake from every trip we take and every BIG event that we enjoy. It's a lifetime of love and blessings.
I feel the same way when I put our family photos with Santa. My insides just turn to mush thinking about how much they have grown and changed. I stare at them and try to remember when they asked for that year from Santa. I love to celebrate Tomorrow we are creating portraits that in the years to come, will make your heart gush and your eyes get misty. I can't wait to see your babies and hear them read their list to Santa. I wonder what the hot toy will be? It's so fun to watch them ask for so many fun things. I love watching to see the relief and excitement when they see their name on the nice list. The nice list is a BIG deal.
But if I really had to pick a favorite thing from the day - it's watching you guys - the Moms and the Dads. Seeing you enjoy the magic of Christmas adventure through the eyes of your baby is truly priceless. Tomorrow your baby will be excited. Just relax and enjoy their littleness. Littleness is gone in the blink of an eye. Hold ON tight.
Big Thanks to everyone who booked our Santa Experience. It is truly one of my favorite things to do for you each and every year.
Our babies are growing so fast. They go from tiny drooling lumps of love to speed racing little people with no volume control before you can blink your eyes. And you if you are like me, those social media flash backs really tug at your heart strings. This morning, this popped into my facebook feed:
I saw this and I was instantly transported back to 5 years ago when this tiny dancer was all legs and so clumsy. She loved tutus, sparkles and dance. When you are a dance MOM, every year could be the last one. You pray for a teacher that will keep her interested. You pray that she will always feel good about herself in those tiny little sparkly costumes. I love watching my daughter dance. And I am blessed to have found a studio that keeps her attention and feeds her dance love and her social Butterfly love all in one place, two days a week. Thank YOU Robinson's School of Dance.
The week dance recital costumes come in, I plan a delicious photoshoot for my daughter. Every year - since she was three - She will be 11 this year. And then I blow up my favorite portrait from the shoot Gigantic! Last year I went 30x30. Crazy or just looking at this amazing life with love goggles? She hasn't even been measured yet, but I'm already looking forward to the arrival of the 2019 costumes.
Every year, print something you LOVE big. They are only little for a little while. Celebrate this beautiful life with beautiful portraits of the memories you are in love with. It's your life and what you print is what you will remember. How will you remember this beautiful life?

Today I spent some time reflecting on the all the excitement buzzing around the studio the when Santa arrived. I think I was just as excited as the children, wondering if they made the list, waiting to hear what Santa thought about their list and stepping back to watch the parents and grandparents welling up with pride and anticipation with their babies....
Every kid that came in for the Santa Experience was a little bit nervous. I told every Mom and Dad, that I asked Santa to bring the Nice list. Every kid knew it would be here. Would their name be on it? Will they have to settle for a lump of coal? Jefferson was no different. Santa told him that him and the elves were kind of on the fence and didn't know if he made the list this year. Santa asked him what did he do this year that made him deserving of being on his most precious nice list. He said that he cleaned his room without being asked, and did his homework and said Yes Ma'am and Yes Sir. Santa seemed satisfied. But told him that he knew that he didn't always put his things where they go and sometimes he had to be asked more than once to do things. He said everything counts. He checked his list twice and Jefferson found his name.
What do you do when you make the nice list? You shoot a couple of thumbs to Dad. This kid is pretty darn fantastic.
So what is the Santa Experience?

New babies come at you like a tornado. No matter how much you plan or how much you learn, there is always something unexpected that will come at you out of nowhere. Everyone who has babies has run out of diapers, forgot to write down a feeding, forgot to pick up the first child because the you were napping with the new child. Seriously, life is going to happen. But what if your tornado moment is an unexpected LONGER stay in the hospital? I had two Mom's this week tell me that they missed their newborn portraits because there baby had to stay in the hospital. I was immediately sad both times and inquired how long they had to stay. One was 3 weeks and one was only 2 weeks and both equally thought they MISSED it. If you are nervous about the upcoming birth of your baby, I say to you - don't worry about portraits. At Ellenburg Photography, We've got this.
I'd like YOU to meet baby Jace photographed at 20 days.
