The new year marks the start for Senior-itis. Senior-itis is a term all the adults know but the south alabama teens are finding out is a little hard to shake. This is the time when our Seniors get blinded by college applications and Adulting that they forget that this ride isn't over yet. Documenting senior year is a BIG deal for our teens. The things they love today, they might find time in short supply for next year juggling school and a job and living away from home for the first time.

Alexis Rocked her High School Senior Portrait Session!

This is the perfect time to schedule your Senior portraits. Fall sports are over. The weather is finally cool enough not to melt if we take the portrait show on location. And our seniors have finally accumulated enough 2019 gear to really make a statement. The choices are simple - Ellenburg Photography offers our Alabama High School Seniors options like in studio or on location or both or bring a BFF to share the fun with. Most of our seniors do both studio + on location to get a fun variety for your shoot. Every shoot comes with homework and a bring list to make the shoot as easy as possible.

What does your High School Senior LOVE?

Does your South Alabama High school Senior love sports? Bring your gear and your balls - let Daphne Ellenburg photography you like a sports illustrated cover star or like your favorite sports hero. Does your teen love music? Bring an instrument. Bring your sheet music. Does your Senior love books or Movies? Bring a costume and lets create something magical. Alexis brought along her wand for some Harry Potter Magic. When your teen shows up with a wand, I know I'm in for a fun session.

Does your high school senior love art? Bring along some original masterpieces to incorporate in the shoot. Does your teen just love make up and magazines? Let me provide an amazing hair and make up artist to make the session over the top perfect and let's shoot the day like a super model.

The options are endless but the time is fleeting. Your baby is growing up. You are on a ticking clock. Senior Mom's and Dad's - YOU only have 4 more months to boss that beautiful baby around. These photos are just as important to your high school senior as they are to you. Seniors the photos you take this year will be on Mom and Dad's walls FOREVER. Let Ellenburg Photography help you make them GREAT.

Want a perfect portrait of siblings or family? Tag Along to the shoot.

High School Seniors this is your time. You have never had more free time to practices and play and enjoy budding adulthood as you do right now. Let's create something special that you will treasure all your life. Make time for an adventure. Reach out for more information. You won't regret it.

High School Graduation stirs up all the squishy parts of your heart.

I've been dragging my feet all week praying this day would come a little later each day, but it's here and I couldn't stop it. Graduation day. The BIG day that our little bouncing baby boys and girls will walk across that big bright stage. On the climb up they are still our tiny babies. And all we can think about is the day they were born. I remember counting all your fingers and toes and thinking about how perfect you are. I promised to give you everything. And I did. I remember how a kiss and a hug could fix anything. I was front row for all your big moments, awards, and sports - always cheering the loudest. Embarrassingly loud (you said) but I didn't care. That's how I love, so get over it. These memories are great, but I think the thing I'll miss the most is just YOU. Seeing you when ever I want, making you breakfast, complaining about your laundry, hearing about your adventures - after all you live right down the hall.

That diploma is your ticket to adulthood. You are going to be leaving our home and going out into that big hard world. I pray that I've taught you enough. I pray that you will keep your chin up when it gets tough (and it will) and keep fighting to have the life you want. And I pray that you will dream BIG, bigger than me or your Dad ever have. And I hope that you will know that you are loved, fiercely. Never doubt it.

Dear Graduate,

Dear Graduate,
I know you think this time - this DAY is all about you. This is the time to celebrate your accomplishments. It's exciting to finally be "grown" and have the whole world at your hands. It's time for you to share your dreams, hopes, and expectations for your future. While you are celebrating and rejoicing in ending this stage of your life and starting a new chapter, remember your MOM and how this time is also about her (sorry dads, I've never been a dad, so I can't speak for you).

18 years ago, your MOM held your body in her arms, looked lovingly into your eyes and promised that she would love and protect you forever. During the past 18 + years, she rocked you to sleep, kissed your boo boos drove you to practices, church, birthday parties, and wherever else you needed to go. She made you eat vegetables, helped you with homework, and protected you from monsters, spiders, and bullies. She prayed you would be kind, honest, and make good choices. She still loved you when you were unkind, untruthful, and made poor choices. She held you when you cried over disappointments, lost friendships, and lost loves. And, after she held you during those times, she cried herself to sleep feeling the depth of your hurts.

In your excitement for things to come, be patient with her. Let her be emotional. Let her take pictures and give extra long hugs. Take a little extra time just to "be" with her. Although her mind knows you are grown, her heart still sees you as that infant she once looked at so lovingly. Letting you go to pursue your future is letting go of a piece of her heart. She is beginning to realize that she will not always be able to be there to protect you. While your life is changing, so is hers. For the past 18 years, her life revolved around taking care of you. She will be lost for a little while trying to figure out a new "normal".

So, while we celebrate you and your graduation, take a moment to acknowledge your mom. Let her know that she is important and that you will always be a part of her life. Go out into the world and do great things, but give her a call once in a while. Take her to lunch for no reason. Remember that your accomplishments are hers too. Even though she didn't do the homework or go to the classes, she was your biggest cheerleader. She worried, hoped, and prayed more than you will ever know.

Love,
Mom of a Graduate

Love, Mom
