A Spooky Photography theme is a great way to spice up what could be an average Charlie Brown in a sincere pumpkin patch kind of holiday. Halloween is supposed to be a little creepy. {Remember that guy, Michael Meyers?} I tone the creepy down around the house, but that spooky edge makes this a fun holiday for both adults and kids. I love it. I love the scares, the haunted houses, the corn field mazes that never end, and I love the candy. Mostly, the terrifying Butterfinger minis. Sweet and Spooky are a winning combination. Week 43, really brought out the dark creative fun in our Project 52 group. Prepare to be frightened. Here comes the top ten.

Our top ten is in no particular order. If you enjoy the photograph, links to the photographer's work is directly below - check them out. Leave them some love. Join them on Facebook or Twitter. These guys have a lot of fun stuff going on! Here we go....

Week 44 - "RED and/or WHITE and/or BLUE" Pick one or two or three...as we gear up for election week here in the US.

You know how you think all week about what you're going to shoot for this week's theme and exactly how you're going to do it? Well, I just knew I was shooting my Red, White and Blue toothpaste. What a disaster. It was a sloppy mess. Fortunately, I have no shortage of Red White and Blue around here. Enjoy my Pinwheel. Shot in studio with 2 softboxes and edited with my favorite software, NIK's Viveza and Define.

What's New with Daphne Ellenburg?

Our appearance Saturday at the Saraland Harvest Festival was a success. We battled the wind all day and met some great families.

I've conquered Halloween. Everyone has their costume - included Mike and I. Big reveal, coming soon.

Not so surprisingly, I put up my Christmas tree. I usually wait until November 1st, but what the heck, I love Christmas. {And maybe I wrapped a few gifts.}

New baby slept 6 hours in a row for 2 days in a row. This is one happy Mom. Instagram is the BEST app ever.

Untitled

In other exciting news, I'm teaching a class for the Mobile Public Library on December 1, 2012. The class is on how to create works of art and holiday gifts from your 2012 digital photos. It should be a fun class to teach and it will be fun to meet some new faces. If you're local, join us for a great Saturday Morning of photography.

Wishing you a fun week filled family, fun, photography and plenty of Halloween Treats!

Week 43's theme is "SPOOKY" - just in time for the Halloween fun that seems to be everywhere. I call this one, "Blind Bird"

FB 121018 bird-02manhatburn bw

This is a shot of the spooky graveyard bird in my neighbor's yard. I added 2 florabella textures and then took this shot through Silver Efex 2.0

What's new with Daphne?

The biggest thing going on in my house this week was the new sibling photo. Seriously, I photographed Tuesday, and decided my boys could use a hair cut, since this will be on the wall like - FOREVER. So Wednesday came with haircuts, a repeat shoot and a 20x30 canvas masterpiece.

I Also got to photograph the first hair pull. It did not go well. But it was funny.

We watched the debates....and Mike and I followed it with an inappropriately entertaining comedy. I sure LOVE all things Adam Sandler.

Untitled

This happened. Jefferson was not as entertained as I was.

Untitled

Jackson and the Satsuma Alabama Gators had another great football game. {I cheered so loud I woke up Jefferson.}

Untitled

And tomorrow, Ellenburg Photography has a booth at the annual Harvest Festival....where we will be launching our new baby plan! Hooray!

Circles, Circles everywhere. This week's round theme was just in time for some great fall fun. I really enjoyed the Pumpkins, the Hay Bales and everything in between. I'm always impressed with the creativity of this group of Photographers. You found Circles. You made your own Circles. You continue to prove that a Photograph doesn't just happen - these guys don't "spray and pray" - These are planned, well executed shots and I'm so glad they choose to share these works of art with you and with Ellenburg Photography's Project 52!

Project 52 is a weekly photo challenge with a theme. Our only rule is that you take the photo during the week of the challenge with any camera you like. You also have to narrow down to only one for the group each week - that's the real challenge. Our group is hosted on Flickr and it's never too late to join in the fun. This week's top Ten is in no particular order, if you enjoy the shot, visit the artist links below the photograph. Show them some love...tell them why you like it. Everyone could use a little encouraging pat on the back, so go ahead and pat away today!

Ready. Set. Here we GO....

Week 42's theme is "FLUFFY"

It was hard for me to narrow down my "fluffy" ideas for this week...but finally in the 11th hour {as usual} I made a decision...and went the these fluffy little clouds hanging over Creola, Alabama this week.

What's New with Daphne Ellenburg?

Right now, I've got a bit of a cold or sinus infection - says the Doctor - since Michael forced me to go visit him yesterday. So sadly, my throat is a bit scratchy and sore. YUCK. On the bright side, I have aquired what seems to be a near endless supply of tea to drink.

New Baby Jefferson is now a solid Month old and is still cute as a button. And I've had this bear since 1995. Best bear ever. It has weighted legs....so cool.

Untitled

He had a great check up and is growing in the 75th percentile of giant babyhood.

Untitled

Jackson had another great football game this week at UMS Wright Academy and he ran for class Treasurer for the 7th and 8th grade. Even though he barely lost his election this week, he's now a class rep and clearly had the coolest posters.

Untitled

A few weeks back I was bragging on the great customer service I receive from the awesome staff at GraphiStudio. My NEW Wedding Sample albums arrived from Italy this week. And I nearly wept when I opened them up. Not only are they so amazingly put together by hand, but they made my images look exactly how they make me feel - Awesome. This album is huge at 16x20 with all metallic printing- it's so darn attractive. The cover is so thick and perfect. I am in Love with it! You should check these guys out. GraphiStudios are my new album designers and will be part of all the 2013 wedding packages offered at Ellenburg Photography.

Untitled

And just when you think fall football couldn't get any more exciting, the 3rd season of The League is out. Hooray. I absolutely love this show.

Untitled

Wishing you a great week filled with family, fun and photography! Make it a great week!

Little is the new BIG thing this week for Ellenburg Photography's Project 52.  "Little" is a loaded word that really has a lot going on for it, begging us to embrace the little things. Little. It's nice to hold something so tiny like gritty grains of sand in the palm of your hand, making them feel even smaller. And you even bigger.  On the other side, it's great to stand at the foot of the wave filled ocean or gaze up into the big giant harvest Moon and know that we are so little in comparison. Remembering both helps really keep life in perspective. A favorite little thing to photograph this week for many of our group were our children. It's nice that knowing that someone so little will grow up so big, but will always be your baby - no matter what. That makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Our group has some great "little" treats for you, so lets roll out this week's top ten. If you enjoy the top ten artists, the links to their work are directly below each photo. Check out their work, send them some love. Remember giving out pats on the back feels good, so pat away!

Here. We. Go.

ONE {Great processing and wonderful words. I want to share them with you guys...}

They sit together,

Quietly.

Watching the water and the birds.

Searching for seals.

I see them there. The two of them.

I know they won't be like this forever.

I know that all too soon they will be grown.

They will be gone into the big, wide expanse of the world.

To follow their own path. Forge their own way.

Away from me and from each other and from these times.

But, I will remember this moment.

And I remember that once they were together.

I will remember that once they were little.

Week 41's theme is "ROUND"

With so many round things to choose from, I went with an old favorite...baseball. It's hard not to think of baseball while we celebrate this week's triple crown winner, and wild card Friday. {Go Braves!} Oh, Heck I just love baseball. This shot was shot with 3 soft boxes using Micheal's old first base glove and ball. Edited with Nik's HDR Efex Pro using the high contrast HDR feature. I really like how it makes the worn glove pop.

{I really love this shot!}

What's new with Daphne Ellenburg?

For starters, I'm sleep deprived. It's really catching up with me over the past couple of days...but no mater how tired I am, this weekend we celebrate. Jefferson is nearly  one month old. Is it just me or did this month fly by?

My wall art arrived and yes it was bigger than the baby - its a 20x30 canvas wrap. I once printed a "life size" 16x20 of baby Madison. That was fun too.

Untitled

This is my oldest baby, Jackson. {You know the one that thinks he's taller than me.} He had his first football game this week. I'm so glad I got to go. I was so proud to watch him play.

Untitled

Here's a quick shot of #41 in action...

Untitled

And to keep with my maternity leave tradition...I always try out a new hairstyle. I usually talk myself into going shorter...but not this time. I became nostalgic for bangs. Instead of going straight across, I opted for the baby steps of swoopy side bangs. Here's my new do.

Untitled

As for the rest of my week...well I'm taking Jefferson's one month photos, great baseball, football and Michael has agreed to be photographed for a solid 20 minutes. Imagine all the fun I'm planning!

Wishing you a wonderful week filled with Family, Fun and Photography! Make it a great week!

The first week of Fall always seems to roll in with a bit excitement. I always look forward to it. Maybe it's less for the excitement of the new pallet of colors that will begin taking over in so many places other than South Alabama, but more for all the anticipation of the great things that happen in the fall.  There is Football, Homecomings, Halloween, endless baking and what the hay, we can just add in the excitement of all the Holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The Fall seems to be filled with more family activity for me than any other season - I always look forward to it. And Not to be overlooked is the exciting return of Egg Nog to every grocery store on every block. Hooray! Welcome back Fall!

For week 39, Our photographers created some really great Fall masterpieces - but lets not forget it's not Fall everywhere. Some of our photographers are celebrating Spring in their part of the world. Our top ten is filled with Fall Fun. If you enjoy the photo, the artist's information is directly below the photograph. Visit the links, check out their work. You might be their newest fans.

Week 40's theme is "Little"

For this week's theme, I chose to photograph two of my favorite Little things, my littlest girl and my littlest boy. Aren't they cute? We were going for lots of triangles in this shot, do you see them?

fb 120926 Jefferson & Madison-10aa

I shot this yesterday. This photograph was shot from above {I stood on step ladder, they are on a large rectangular Ottoman in studio} using only 2 softbox lights, set up in Mock Clam-Shell lighting. Processed with Lightroom 4, Nik Define 2.0, Imagenomics Portraiture, and Florabella Collection's Honey Haze.

What's new with Daphne?

Today sweet baby Jefferson turns 3 weeks old. He's growing so fast. This is his last week in those tiny newborn diapers - he's so long they almost look like a speedo on him. {sad face} I had my "new Mom check up" yesterday to find out that I'm healing great and I dropped 20 more pounds - so now I'm only 20 more pounds from being "Me" again. Bye Bye Baby weight. Hooray! I am also back to driving, which is great in theory only. Basically, I can drive but I can't lift more than 10 pounds. The baby is 9.5 pounds. My purse is 7 pounds {I know this because my husband weighted it at the Doctors office #embarrassing} The baby carrier is another 5 pounds, and who knows how much his giant man sized stroller weighs. So, basically I can go anywhere that I can carry the baby but not my purse or my purse and not the baby. So, I'm pretty much still at home with my feet up.

My husband took my big footballer, Jackson to his first big SEC college football game this past Saturday. They  had an amazing time! {and all I got was this photo and couldn't even watch the game because it was blocked out on ESPN.} Sad green jealous face. But I'm glad he's now hooked on going to the games with us.

Untitled

We rocked out the Avengers for family movie night in Mike's Man Cave. I haven't watched it in 3D yet, but It's on my list. Yes, baby Jefferson comes to movie night too :-)

Untitled

Baby Jefferson's birth announcements finally arrived. I guess "Finally" refers to "I finally finished perfecting them and ordered them" My printer rush over-nighted them to keep me addicted to their awesome customer service - these guys are awesome.

Jefferson littleelephant_04FRT

As for the rest of my week...there will be football, feet up, smaller clothes and planning Baby Jefferson's big One Month photos! I've got some great new ideas!

If you're looking for a great FREE workshop this weekend...check out http://www.creativelive.com/courses/workflow-album-design-khara-plicanic   Creative Live is featuring a great workshop on album building using In Design. I love Creative Live.

Wishing you a wonderful week filled with Family, Fun and Photography. Make it a great week!
