Spring has Sprung. It was a warm Spring day...and a wet one, but that didn't bring down visitors to the annual Festival of Flowers. This event is sponsored by Providence Hospital and is located in Mobile Alabama. This is always one of my favorite events for a few reasons. One, I met my husband several years ago after attending this event, so sometimes when I think about the Festival of flowers, I think about Michael Ellenburg. (and then I smile) Two, Last year we placed for best in show for the Photography contest and that was really exciting!! And Lastly, my Madison has a personal challenge to smell every flower - this is a fun feat to watch unfold each year. Not only is there a great photography competition, but there is always wonderful flower exhibits that I've never seen and great vendors.
I attended this year with my wonderful Mini-Me. My Mom bailed on us due to the rain :-(

This year's big feature was a Floral Carpet.

I'd never seen one before. It was over 5 thousand square feet & was the largest recorded carpet created in North America. Wow. It was seriously gynormous.

The Photography exhibit was great. They did not display as many as they usually do...but happily all of mine were on exhibit. Here's Ellenburg Photography's Winning Festival of Flowers photograph:

There is something beaming about seeing your photograph with a brightly colored ribbon on it. Maybe this why I always invite my Mom along every year. It was great to be featured next to a local friend, Kathy Hicks. (She is so awesome!)

This event is held on the Property of Providence Hospital each year in Mobile, Alabama. If you haven't been, check out the Festival of Flowers next year. It's a great place to see new things, enjoy some local eats and slow down long enough to smell the flowers.
